Does the cutting torch unit(what you hold in your hand)ever need to be taken apart and cleaned? Not the tip, but the hand held part. Sorry if a dumb question and I appreciate any input.

Except for taking the tip out of a cutting head, or the complete head attachment (IE cutting, soldering, rose bud, etc) and changing o-rings if it has them, or taking it to a repair shop to have the valves reseated or the stems resealed, the torch should never come apart. In fact, every make I've ever seen will come apart at only these places. The rest of the torch is usually silver brazed together and does not come apart. As long as you aren't constantly disconnecting the torch and leaving the lines open everything flowing through the torch body should be clean anyway. Hope this helps. Wayne
