My JD dealer wants over 3K for a loader to fit my JD 770. I already have all the hydraulic lines installed, so this price is for only the loader. He says the Model 70A is no longer available; the new one (cannot remember the model number) has quick connect system so you can switch the bucket out for other attachments. Looking at used tractors, a loader doesn't seem to add much to their cost/value (I often see the tractor/loader combol going for uner 8K), so why so expensive? He said if i could find a Model 70A that it would run me between 2K and 2.5K dollars. Do these prices sound reasonable?

I just put a small loader that could be used on your tractor on Ebay. Item # is 2311285955 It is brand new but made for a small track machine so it would have to be modified alittle. Dan

I don't know about on compacts, but deere loaders aren't the best loader in the utility class, they just cost more for less! Why not check out another brand like Bush Hog to see if they can accommodate you and your deere compact tractor. A couple quarts of green paint can be used on it if needed. Robert

Hi Matt,

When I bought my similar tractor I didn't give any consideration to one without a loader for the reasons you're experiencing. My loader also has a quick disconnect- something I never use as I don't find leaving it on the tractor inconvenient.

If I were in your position I would seriously consider trading tractors. Or at least try to find a different (cheaper) loader that could attached with a little cutting and welding. But I don't choose to pay our local Deere prices or put up with the crappy service from the local Deere dealer. As Deere fans are fond of pointing out, your resale would be great.

Good luck with your search.
