I had a problem with the oil pressure gauge in my car. It would drop to zero pressure while I was driving! Pressure came back up just as I was stopping the car. Then I saw an article in a car magazine that said the sender should sit upright, never on it's side. Sure enough, mine was on it's side, right from the factory. I got some 1/4" pipe fittings, and set the sender upright, and installed a new sender. Never a problem again.

Go pull the wire off the sending unit and have someone ground it out while the key is on. If it pegs out then change the sender.

Your trucks oil pressure guage is electrical. Unless it has been checked out it might not be the gauge that is bad. There is an oil pressure sender that is on the engine. These senders are just as likely to not work as the guage. If you indeed have oil pressure, and the guage does not show it, then your problem is one of three things. Bad sender, or bad wireing, and lastly bad guage. I would make sure that it is a bad guage before I replaced it. The guage is part of the instriment cluster in the dash. You will have to dissassemble the portion of the dash where the instriment cluster is. The instriment cluster is moreless a plastic box which holds all the gauges. You will then need to remove that plastic box of guages from dash to gain access to the backside of it when looking at it from the drivers seat. You will have to disconnect all the wire plug ins and disconnect the speedometer to remove it. This is the hard part. Ounce you get it out of there and have access to the backside you can take the guage out and install the new one into the instriment cluster. Then just put it all back together. Be real careful not to break anything because about all of it is plastic. If everything is removed that is nescisary from dash, and tilt wheel in lower position, and if auto trans. the gear shifter is down, and all screws, wires and ext. from instriment cluster are romeved, then the instriment cluster should be able to be pulled straight out back towards the drivers seat. May have to shimmy it around the steering wheel. I hope you are mistaken and it just needs a sender. It would save you a little grief if you haven't ever changed a guage before.
