An aquaintance is considering selling his Miller Dialarc HF-P welder. He bought it new in ~1983. He is also a tool and die maker by trade, not a welder, so it probably doesn't have tons of hours on it. It looks in very nice condition. Is this a good machine? Does it have any particularly undesirable features that I should be aware of? Can you guys give me a price range for it?
Thanks,
John

I have a Miller Dialarc 250P AC/DC with steel wheel running gear. My dad bought it in 1977 for around $600. I got it when my dad died. They are around $1000 now. BTY the P is Power factor corrected. Not all of them are power factor corrected. The Miller Dialarc is vary good!! Welding amperage range AC low. 35 to 165. AC high 105 to 300. DC low 35 to 155. DC high 90 to 265.

Hi John,

Thats an excellant machine with a good stable arc for Stick and Tig. If the price is right grab it. I would think somewhere above 50% of new cost and probablly closer to 75% if it's in excellant condition. They don't loose alot of value.

If your not an experienced welder tho it's easy to get "burned" on a used machine.

Not familliar with this particular welder but I can tell you that Miller is a good name.My old thunderbolt is just now starting to give trouble and it's 33 yr's old. Ordered a new Lincoln today. The local dealer sell's both brand's and he talked me into it.
