I was working in a buddys shop last weekend and he had a great little gizmo. About the size of a pen, you put the pointed end on a hot wire on a tractor and grounded yourself with your free hand, a light would light. I would like one but don't know where to look. I would try Ebay but I don't even know what it is called. Where can I find one? Thanks, Dan

Im a industrail generator mechanic and I use one to find live wires. I use a Fluke and its about $22. Very handy to have when your working with a million wires and dont know wich one has voltage on it.

My son gave me a pocket AC voltage tester for Christmas. It may work for 12 volt also. He got it from Sears. It buzzes and flashes.

I have one of those testers. My brother-in-law gave it to me a few years ago. It runs on two AAA batteries, has a green LED that comes on and a tiny beeper that beeps when the probe touches a live wire on your vehicle or whatever and your hand is on ground (frame or chasiss). Works good for trouble shooting. By placing the probe beside a spark plug wire shows if spark is present in that wire. Also good for automotive and trailer wiring and trouble shooting. The tester doesn't have a name on it and I don't know who or where it was made. I may be able to find out if you wish. Let me know.

Many auto parts stores sell them. Saw one yesterday in the electrical dept of the local True Value hardware store.
