Maybe, just maybe, someone here will have an idea for me. I would like to remove sand from my crawlspace. The only access I have is through small casement windows. Is there some kind of pump that would pump dry sand?

A large powerful shop vac. modified to fit on a 55 gallon metal drum. Use two drums, fill about half to 2/3 full. With two men, one working the "hose" and one emptying one drum while the other drum is being filled, a lot of DRY sand can be moved in a short time. Have even used shop vac's to clean (dry) dirt and gravel out of ditches. Good luck, Gordon

Done it that way (shop vac) slow, but it works.
Could you use a grain auger?

The grain auger is a good idea but I suppose I would have to buy one, I don't think anyone would like the idea of loaning an auger and have someone run sand through it.

The grain auger works, I've moved over 20 cu. yds.
of dirt twice. Be aware that it is slow, much slower than a belt. A screen is required to keep rocks/branches/
roots/etc. out.Sand will wear the auger out ,so
buy a used one, and calculate the cost of the auger in your job. A rented belt requires you to
do your digging in one or two days, but if you own
an auger, I was able to spread it out over a 2 week period and still get a few hours of use
over a period of years.
