I recently came across a John Deere stick welder that is yellow and rated at 230 amps. It has a lever to adjust the amperage after losening a rod that comes out pf the top. Its not in perfect condition but did not appear to be neglected. The guy is asking $75 but has been trying to sell it for a while. i think that I am going to offer him $50. I was just wondering if any of you farmers and such had any experience with a welder like this and if you did tell me about. Or maybe if anybody out there has even seen such. Let me know if I am getting a deal or not. Thanks in advance for your time. I would appreciate any advice or information that any of you out there have. Thanks.

Matthew, If the welder works, is it a 240volt model? if it has any heat range over 180 amps its probably worth the $50.00 does it have the ground clamp & electrode holder? Dave F.

The welder works and it is a 240 volt model. It has a heat range of 230 amps. It is also equipped with a ground clamp, electrode holder, and extra long leads. Thanks for the reply.

Matthew, If you get the welder, & have a chance e-mail me a picture of it. I've never seen an John Deere welder before? Is it an A.C/D.C. model or just an A.C. machine. Dave F.

I was just going to let you know that I decided against getting the welder. It was a John Deere but I am sure that it was made by some other welding manufacture like Lincoln. I think that it was just AC. It wasn't in perfect condition. It was kept under a barn but was still affected by the elements. Plus, the lever that adjusted the amperage was stuck in one position. The Leads had more electrical tape than original insulation. I also wanted to save the money for the $300 Milwaukee Porta-Band that I plan on buying. It didn't work out but it was probably for the better. Thanks for the reply, and Have a good one!
