I bought a Sun Vat 40, starter and generating system analyzer on a sale. It seems to work good but I noticed that when I wipe the gauges off they don't zero again. Both amp and volt gauge don't return to zero. The more you wipe the more they get off. Is this static electricity or what is causing this? In a couple of days they will be zeroed out again. If you use it when they are like this will the readings be off? I would like to get an operators manual for this, does anyone know where I can find one? Thanks.

You hit right on the head. It is static that is holding the meters off of zero. Generally it's not a problem when testing. Radio Shack carries a product that will get rid of the static. You spray it on your cloth when you wipe the meter face and it gets rid of the static build up. If you can find your local Snap-on man he should be able to get you a manual.

Just moisten your cloth with a glass cleaner.
