Make a wire welder

I have a cheap wire welder the wire motor works but will not weld the transformer i suspect i have another stick welder and would like to combine the two any thoughts thanks steve a poor chicken farmer

Without going into alot of technical detail, the stick machine is gonna be a Constant Current machine, and the wire feed is a Constant Voltage machine. What this means is that the output from the transformer on the stick machine wouldn't work for a wire feed machine without alot of other electronics to change it from CC to CV. It could probably be done, but in the end it would be cheaper and alot easier to simply buy a new machine. Just my 2 cents...

Hi maudeb,

You might want to wander thru Lincoln's and Millers website and down load some user manuals on CC and CV machines as they will have a schematic and parts break down. That would let you know about what part are needed and how there wired.
