Does anybody have any ideas on stuff that you could make with metal? i made an aluminum can crusher by welding 2 pieces of angle iron and base at the bottom and had an arm to come down and crush it. there is also fountains that are made out of copper sheet metal made in our metal shop.WWW.MRBUD.COM there is really neat stuff you can make with sheet metal trace an outline and cut along it with a tourch and it will have a ripple effect along the edges. horseshoe hangers are a great idea if you have alot laying around. get 2 cut one in half and put the half cut one in the middle of the U and tack it on. Any more ideas??

third party image

Most of the stuff I build may be alot bigger than what you have in mind. Here is a picture of a christmas tree. It will hold up to 5.5" tree trunk. Also has a sight glass, that is made out of plastic tubing. I have more pictures of stuff at my photo album, under homemade equipment.

Ben, many farmers have spent winters building "stuff"; either because it was something they needed or because they were bored or just wondered "what if". I've made numerous bar-be-cue grills and fish cookers. Grills can be made from almost any thing you've got laying around. Two wheels mounted back-to-back work good. My biggest one made from this uses 38 inch rims from tractor duals..... it's portable, mounted on 15 inch wheels. One hundred # propane tank makes a great fish cooker; have to build burners from 'scratch', since can't find anything for sale which will put out enough btu's. Bottom of tank is cut off to a depth of about 13 inches; use about next 13 inches for stand (using some pipe or rod for stand) etc. Anytime you cut into a tank, you are at risk for explosion, maiming, death. If you don't know what you're doing; get some qualified help.

Many, many things you can make..... ... Made a welding table out of the meter boxes ( 3 ) from coin operated washing machines, two end to end and one perpendicular on one end for the foot. A piece of 1/4" plate ( 12" X 12" ) on top for the table. Racks and hooks on the sides for clamps and other tools. Also made an address sign for the house. A 12" X 9" X 1/8" white plastic oval surrounded by a 3/4" X 1/8 " flat bar oval frame slightly larger. Numbers on plastic oval, street name, XXXXX bent from same 1/8 " bar into 2" high letters standing on top and 2" 'ROAD' letters hanging from bottom of oval frame.( address is 32 XXXXX Road ). Scrolls adorn the ends of the oval frame that would otherwise be blank. Also made truck jack stands, various metal trays for sockets, sheet metal brake ( 24" ), roll around auto levelling table saw stand, same for jointer, again for chop saw/disc sander/ buffer. Oxy/ace cart for tanks and tips etc.,various wall mounting tool racks etc., etc. There is no end to what needs to be made. I get many ideas from TV and magazines that are woodworking projects..... . my motto is " Forget the wood- weld it up from junkyard steel "
