What plasma cutter is the most affordable and efficient for general farm use. Never had one but I am really considering getting one. I will still use a torch for the really thick stuff. What are your ideas? thanks Al

Thanks to all of you. I should have asked about what kind of prices your machines ran. Thanks again Al

Hi Big Al, I paid $2519 CND, and splurged on the deluxe circle cutter kit for another $322.61 CND

Get a good one, made by a major manufactorer who has a service center close. Get a 220v unit. I've had the "cheap" units, don't last and cant get service. Using Miller's now. Good machines, 3 yr warrenty.

I have a Miller 300 which I had about 3 years and it was trouble free. This one is rated for 1/4 in cutting and 3/8 severing. It is pretty slow on 1/4 cutting but it works good. I would have liked to have one to cut 1/2 but I was limited on shop space.

Hypertherm make a very good unit, maybe, probably, in my opinion - the Best! However, all the big welder Mfg's make good cutters!

I just bought the Miller 625 for use around the ranch. It is rated at 5/8" quality cut and sever 7/8". I have two of the the Miller 1020s at work. They have been problem free. I bought mine to be able to do sheet steel with out warping.

Best regards,
Gary
