are videos on restoring tractors or rebuilding them any good? most of them cost 25 bucks and i wanted to know if they are worth it. Thanks

I borrowed a friend's video on painting tractors a couple of years ago. Quality of production is fair (it's taped in some guy's home workshop). They gave some reasonable advice/instruction, as I recall.

Is it worth $25? I don't know. You would get just as much by buying a Haynes book (on auto painting, for example) and then just experimenting on some old project before really doing a "nice" tractor. Most of the things those videos teach can be self taught if you have the time and don't mind making a few mistakes along the way. They will offer a few "pearls" which could save some time. Buying a good book will give you a lot of info, too.

You might try locating a tractor club and hitching up with the old boys who've worked on tractors a few decades. I've found they enjoy passing on their knowledge to the young whipper-snappers, if there's interest....
