click tpye is the better chioce I think. I have a NAPA click type. It works really good for up to 100 lbs. after that I wouldn't trust it. A buddy broke one on a 504 Case 10 years ago. He bought a snap on or mac for those that to be that tight. A needle tpye is hard to read when you are pulling it to 90 on an M Farmall and you are only 5'7" like me.

I've got one of the beam type craftsman that is very inexpensive. I've now rebuilt two snowmobile motors with it and both run great. Seems to be a good tool. The only complaint I have is that Sears doesn't have a fitted case for it. I had to buy one of the generic cases and cut it to size.

The beam types are inexpensive compared to the others and are just as accurate. They seem to be less subject to bumps and jolts, and they are very easy recalibrated, (stick the socket connection end in a vise and pull it the opposite direction till the needle reads zero), and they will last forever,I have used both a 3/8 and 1/2 " drive ones for over 20 years and they still have their accuracy. I also have a clicker type I use when I can't watch the beam scale easily, but prefer the beam type for most jobs. Just my own experiences though. Gene Davis
