Oxygen Regulator whistles!

My oxygen regulator whistles when I depress the lever on my torch. It's holding the pressure just fine, and the regulator was rebuilt about a year ago, but it just started this a few days ago.
Should I take it apart and oil it? okay, that was a joke, but what would cause it to whistle when it flows?

Hi Skinner,

Oxygen and any type of carbon (oil) will EXPLODE if the mixtures are correct. Please keep in mind that very young people read this website ALOT and I sure would hate to see someone get hurt or killed from a "joke". Never mix any type of oil with Oxygen even in small quanitys.

There could be several reasons why the regulator is making noise. I personally would rather you take it to a qualified service center for repair as high pressure gas is nothing to mess with.

Most noise is made from a higher pressure source flowing to a lower pressure much like a balloon does.

Sorry T-Bone, I put a statement next to that comment in brackets but I guess anything in brackets is not valid. I'm going to continue to run the regulator. It holds the desired pressure just fine and doesn't leak, so it can't be too bad. Sorry, your point was well taken.
