This is the place to get all kinds of good (and strange) information so here goes...

I need small lag screws. Smaller than the standard 1/4" sold in hardware stores. Say 1/8" or 3/16 - or something. Maybe "decorative" lag screws. Maybe from a cabinet maker? Anything other than a screw since I need a decorative head w/o slots, etc. as they will be exposed when used to hang towel racks, etc. Lgth - oh 1.25, 1.5 even 2".

All suggestions greatly appreciated!

Thanks - Bob

There are decorative screw caps available also.A washer goes beneath the screw head and after installation a chrome, brass, blk etc decorative cap snaps onto the washer, covering the screwhead,Check McMaster-Carr,Grainger,Fastenall,also hot rod/auto stores.(Used to mount sunvisors etc on vehicles)

Don't want to flame anybody here.
I went to Home Depot to save some $$$ on brass wood screws and they were FIVE TIMES more money than my local Ace hardware store and the little store has much more diverse selection. Home Depot would have cost me eighteen dollars for 40 screws.
I do look at Home Depot though I don't buy at the big warehouse stores unless there is good reason.
Best Regards

Bob,

do a web search on "cabinet hardware" or "cabinetmaker hardware"... there are several mail order companies that sell speciality hardware (none of the names can be remembered right now :-) )

I've seen some really unique stuff in their catalogs..

Hi Bob,

You would be looking for a #10=1/8", #12=3/16", or close to those dimensions. If your looking for a pictular type of head, then maybe SM screws would work.

Copper State Nut and Bolt carry's a very good selection and will sell retail. Look at the price of a box of 100 vs a dozen screws as when they break open a box there price is 5 times a full box price.
