I am in the market for a air power finish nailer and was wondering what other people have used or own. There are so many available, I don't know which way to turn. I have a few home projects coming up and thought this could be a handy item to have. What is the difference between 16 and 15 gauge?
Thanks!

Craig

I bought a two in one Craftsman stapel/nail 18 gauge from 5/8 to 1 1/2 inch.($99) I love this thing- I have shot a small brick (5000 nails) and has no prob. NOT even one stuck. I have a friend with the same gun, he has had one or two staples stick- I think that may have something to do with his air regulater though. Whatever you get- you will thank yourself- try banging up 5000 finish nails by hand- and not smacking your thumb or braking the molding/project with your hammer.

I got a Porter-Cable Brad nailer, 18 Ga up to 2" long and a Porter-Cable Finish nailer... 16 Ga up to 2-1/2" long.... either one will shoot thru 3/4" thick hardboard without problems. May not be as bullet-proof as the Senco but a lot more in My price range.

If you want a pro nailer get a Senco it will last you a long time and do a great job.
In my opinion they are the Best I have used them for years ,good quality, rebuildable ,parts and nails are to easy to find.
my 2 cents worth.

Have a Dewalt 16 ga. that I run with a small Harbor Freight pancake compressor. Have used it for everything from building doghouses to putting up cove mold. Very happy with it.

I bought a Bostitch FN1664 awhile back, just less than 1 year old. Shoots 1" to 2-1/2" 16ga. I've gone thru (+or-) 2000 nails w/o a problem.
I like it.
FWIW...good luck...don t. ....

I have had a Senco SNIIb since 1982. It has been a very good finish gun. Also have a Senco SNIV framing gun. Both are no longer avaiable however I believe the new models are same quality with more features.

I bought one from Harbor Freight. Isn't a true finish nailer since it won't take real long finish nails, but works fine for trim and workshop projects. Also, works off a small tankless compressor. Trimmed out an addition with it and some other projects and don't have a fortune invested in it. I think, though, when it breaks, it is a throw away. It is not built badly though for home use.
