I would suggest that you get a trailer that has a large enough deck to fit a full size vehicle on it, a pickup. Sooner or later someone will bread down and call you to come and get them, you will want to transport a car somewhere, or something else like this and a 6 foot wide trailer is close but no go. You will have spent almost all the money to get a little larger one, and be wishing it was larger I think. Don't get one with the pipe rails either, limits what you can put on it, you can always put side boards on if you need to. At mosthave a maybe 2" lip around the front and sides, but no rails.

A cub wieghs 1700 lbs, and anything you put on , wheel weights, implements etc, can bring the weight up to 2500 without too much trouble.

That trailer sounds like pleanty to haul a Farmall Cub. The weight ratings seem a little low, it might be worth sliding down under some of the trailers and measuring the steel, and comparing axles and springs and tires for their rating. I would want to make sure it is a quality that will last. I bought a 5 by 8 utility trailer that looked big enough when I bought it, but then I started using it regularly to haul loads of scrap metal. Most of the loads were half it's capacity, but soon the trailer was catwalking down the highway. I checked it out and found the tongue was bent. The tongue was made from about 1/16 rectangular tubing. I ground off all the welds and replaced it with the same outside dimensions, but with 1/4 think steel tubing. As for size, like the others said, it will always seem to be getting smaller and smaller. When you have the trailer you will be finding more uses for it, and you may be wishing you bought it a little bigger, or a little heavier.

Someone commented on only having a 6 foot wide trailer. I see two advantages about this. It keeps the weight down and you can see around the trailer/load better when traveling down the road. If you live in a state like Wisconsin and your trailer and load is under 3000# you do need trailer license or trailer brakes (not aways good to be without the brakes). A trailer like this is increasingly in demand as they are being used to transport ATV's and golf carts, so if you ever decide you want a bigger trailer, the 6x16 has a good resale. Just my thoughts-krum

I would be hesitant to buy a six foot for the reason that it will not be as easy to resell as a full size car trailer. With your truck you could pull a full size and not give up any ride or economy. Just my preference, good luck. Also you would have room to haul a extra when you decide to add on.

I thought that the 6' trailer was the full size. When I was looking to buy a utility trailer, I found that 5' and 6' were the standard widths for utility trailers. A couple of places that I checked had a 6 1/2' utility. Car hauler trailers that I have seen, usually don't have side rails.

Trailers that are slightly over 6' are desireable for anyone who might have 6' wide implements. My tractor with 6' rotary cutter needs a trailer that is at least 6'-4" wide.

If two axles are rated at 3500GAWR each, then the GVWR should be 7000lbs, plenty to haul a standard Cub. The Cub will get lost on a 16' deck as it's only about 9' long. With a weight distributing hitch, you won't even know it's there. The Cub weighs about 1450lbs. I don't know anything about the brand of trailer you want.
