I just found this site a couple nights ago, and from the looks of it all you guys out there are pretty good about responding to posts and helping each other out. I've placed a couple of followups, and thought it was about time to place a post myself. I'm trying to find a Miller Maxtron 450 welder. If you saw the followup I placed with the 3ph vs 1ph power you'll know my situation, but basically I'm trying to find a high output single phase machine with 100%duty cycle. I found a '96 Miller catalog the other day, and the Maxtron 450 can be set up as either a 3ph or 1ph machine, but 1ph is what I need. It has an a 100%duty cycle rating up to, I believe, 300amps and if I remember right around 34V open circuit voltage on single phase, and slightly higher on 3 ph. The most important thing I need is the 100% duty cycle as I'm gonna be using it with a machine torch on a home made buildup machine. If any of you know where I can find one of these machines, or even another brand with similar specs, please let me know. Thanks in advance....Wayne

Foster Wheeler energy is closeing the Dansville , New York plant as of February. Try checking with them. They have all kinds of welders , all of which are 100% duty cycle. (585)335-3131 You might even try checking on there web site (Foster Wheeler), to see if maybe you can contact someone. It's a long shot. But they have old welders , new welders , all sizes , makes and kinds. They have stick , mig , tig , all kinds of welding machines , etc.. Everything there is put together with some kind of welding proccess. They are a industrial boiler manufacturer. Like everyone else is doing , they are sending work over seas. They have built new plants over seas. Don't need us anymore.

Here is a link where you can ask some questions. It takes a while to get a answer, but worth it.Ask Brad over there, because he seems to work on most brands. He is also a welder.

Wayne,
not to take anything away from this site..it's great but you might want some specialized in welding...

you might try some of the welder forums...
like www.hobartwelders.com... there are forums there for welders, projects, questions, etc..I check into that site daily and they are as helpful and knowledgable as the folks here... and many of the Hobart gurus hang there also... you can get some really technical info there

also Lincoln has a similiar site... when you find yours , find me a good used Millermatic 200 for less than 500 bucks :0)

Wayne,Here is a welder thats 50 volts-300amp- single phaze-100% duty cycle. Its on clearance for about $2400.00,and did sell for $6200.00.I have seen a few nice maxtrons sale for about the same as the mk products on ebay.I bought my mk2000a on ebay for about $1300.00 in mint condition.I think it peaks at 360 amps on single phase. It has tons of volts plus you get pulse mig if needed.I hooked my up to a lincoln LN9 GMA feeder, and now I got quite the home shop welder. Some of the maxtrons had some problems. So I would do some checking before I bought one.I love the way the mk 2000a welds.
