The best shop vac i have ever owned and I have owned 3 prior to my Rigid model. Bought it at Home Depot. Gauarenteed forever and it has a pleated filter that can be cleaned with the air compressor. There is even a filter that will work when doing dry wall. My shop vac models have been a dissapointment motors fry and dust sent back past the filter media.

I have one from True Value called Master Mechanic made by Shop Vac and it really works good. The best part about this one is I can use a big filter bag, that fits inside the vac and attaches to the fitting where the dirt comes in. All the dirt stays in the bag so the main filter never gets plugged, and it doesn't loose suction like they always do when the filter gets plugged. I wouldn't be without this feature again. Mine is a 12 gallon.

Bought Dad a Craftsman-brand 16-gallon vac several years ago. It's been a good one. The only downside was that the hose keeps coming off the tank, but I'd think that Sears has fixed that by now.

I have a Shop-Vac brand 16-gallon vac. I love it. It's a lot quieter than Dad's Craftsman. No problems whatsoever. Got it at Lowe's a couple of years ago for a little over $100. The hose has a locking mechanism on it that keeps it from falling off.

The guy at Lowes thought I was crazy when I refused to buy a shop vac without first plugging it in and hearing how much noise it made. I have used some that made a lot more noise that suction. I am very happy with the Shop Vac that I got, I love the hose that attaches and doesnt pull off.

My 2 cents is for Craftsman, have a 16 gal 5hp that I've had head to head with "commercial" vacs such as Dayton. I'm more than happy with it wet or dry. One tip I use is a 33gal garbage bag in the hopper, the lid just clamps over it and makes clean up a breeze. Dave

We have had a couple of Craftsmans. The best one is the one that the motor comes off to use as a blower, great for cleaning off combine or any blowing jobs.

Arnie: I have had about a half dozen shop vacs, didnt know what I was missing till I bought a wet/dry craftman. 16 gallon. does a good job and got it on sale for about 110 bucks. Filters are a little high but I am a mizer so I use the air hose on it several times before I replace it. They sometimes have good deals on a 2 pack. Unit is worth the $$$. According to MoD. # Mine was made by emerson.

Your right on a little pricey for filters,On my CraftsmanI wrap a thin piece of fiber filter media around the stock filter secured with a lg rubber band.It keeps some of the crud outta the stock filter. Also Craftsman filters are washable in warm water/detergent,just dont abuse em,and dry before using.I've been rotating a couple for a couple yrs now.

IMHO, it's hard to beat the Sears Craftsman wet/dry for the price. Always done everything I've asked of it.

I have the Craftsman and it works very well. I keep a set of ear protectors with at all times so I don't forget to put them on when it's running; very loud! I enhance the filter by (don't laff) stretching my old cut off long john legs over it. It doesn't seem to cut down on the power and it makes it easier to clean as well as upping the efficiency some. It seems to pick up the fine ash from my wood stoves without recirculating it back into the room. Someday I'll pick up one of their HEPA filters but they are a little expensive. However, Sears claims they're completely washable.
