I have a model 141-290-005 (from tag on back) Century battery charger. It is an automatic batery charger. The green LED, which is suppposed to come on when the battery is fully charged. Found out one of the leads is broken. Want to install a new one, but I'm not sure of the direction to install it as it is a diode. Anyone who can shed some light on this would be appreciated.

Thanks.....
Bill

Not sure but look at old LED legs, not sure but seems to me one leg is different from other(wider). Also I believe current will only flow one way is tested w/meter.Might try jumper lead hook up to try it each way.I'm no electronics guru, just suggestions.

Yep JDK you are right. But it sounds like one leg is broken off. He will have to do a bit of post mortem analysis on it suppose. Also some LED's have a dropping resistor built in them. I hope this is not the case on the battery charger.

There should be a flat side on the plastic base of the LED. Just install the new one the same way.
