Does anybody know where to buy some of those windshield stikers the oil change places use? To me, thats one of the biggest advantages of the oil change places. I would like to do it myself. Thanx, Irv

Hi IRV,

I use a 3x5 notebook in the glove box. I use it for mileage, oil changes, tire rotation, part replace and cost for each vechile. I don't seperate the pages, I just note what I did, when, mileage and cost on the same line. That way I can thumb back and look at all records very fast. Since most pages have fuel mileage on them , oil changes and parts stand out from all the other writing.

Hi T_Bone. I have kept records like this in a little 3 ring book for about 30 years. So simple to just enter gas fills etc. And you can check gas milage and compare cost from time to time.

I just write the date and mileage on the valve cover, cam cover or air cleaner with a lumber crayon each time I change the oil. It will rub off a warm engine easily and I am under the hoods often enough that I never miss the proper change interval. I have done it this way for years: cheap, easy and out of sight.

I don't like stickers on my windshield or dash. Our mechanic at work used to write the oil change mileage on masking tape and put it on the speedometer near the odometer. It was the responsability of the driver to get the machine in the shop when it was near the oil change interval. But the masking tape left a messy residue.

O'reillys has them back by the oil filters. I think they were free.
