Looking for 15 to 17 inch, floor model drill press - costing about $250 to $300. Anybody got any ideas?

Been looking at Enco model, 17", 215 to 3250 RPM, weighs about 220lbs. Anyone had any experience with this company or model of press?

Russ,
I picked up a Delta 17-900 for $295.00 this summer at the local woodworking shop. Works great and parts are available 30 miles away.

Every now and then one shows up on Ebay, I don't know how much of a hurry you are in. Lowes has one on the floor in the tool dept, but they don't show it on their website. If they have any stores in your area, It might be worth a phone call.

Russ,By the time you figure in shipping from Enco you probally could get a jet model drill press, somewhere local. For about the same price. The enco is made in China, and the Jet is made in Taiwan. Most of the chi-com stuff is flat out junk.I did the smart thing and bought a jet.Its a pretty decent drill press. You might check out Grizzly also.I have had good luck with them so far. What ever you do stay away from shopfox it is really cheezy looking.I really would be tempted to check out ebay for a old used clausing or something along those lines. They go for pretty cheap sometimes.Thats my .02 cents.

Scott..... . Isn't a Clausing drill press an infinetly variable speed, auto feed press, costing about $4k+ new? I sure would like to have one for $250-$300. I thought they would go for around $800-$1200.

There was a nice one a couple of days ago that was buy it now at $375.It didn't sell as far as I know. You could of got it for less.It was the standard pulley model. It still was nice.I was tempted to bid, because I bought a horizontal mill from them.It was a clausing in great shape.A bench model of the varidrive drillpress didn't go for very much more, the other day.It was in great shape, also from a good company.
