Would like to build a 9 or 12" bench type disc sander.
How about sharing some thoughts on what would be a good backing plate to attach to the motor for the discs.
Maybe someone on here has a few pics of one they built they would share.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff M

Jeff: Thinks you could buy a plate for 15 or 20 bucks,
Be sure motor RPM's do not exceed disc RPM specs.

I got a ten inch backing plate from sears for my table saw. Inexpensive. Don't think you could make one for that price.

SHOPSMITH has a 12" sized to fit a 5/8" shaft. Got one a few years back, but have yet to make my 12". Presently still using a 9" HOMECRAFT cast iron unit that was made to run on top of a table saw with a pulley in place of the blade.
