I think new driveway construction crew crushed my pipe from house to tank BUT no one owning up yet. Spent 1/2 the nite up to my shoulders in guano. Inserted garden hose and 100' snake at the clean out but could not reach end but finally got a small trickle. Tank is fine and not full, nor is drain field plugged.

Question is this - rent a power driven snake to 'roto-rooter' or get a clean out cover that I can fasten 2100 psi pressure washer to it and pressurize blast it out?

'Brown trout' ain't native to FL & w/ T-Day guests coming seeking most efficient short term fix. Thanks Y'all!

Y'all -
Not sure if pipe is crushed. I was hoping to get limited flow to get me thru the Holiday. We are moving from mobile home to new home on 12/5/02. Not really wanting to excavate for a temp solution - went to rent pwr auger and new house plumber was kind enough to leave his for my use tonite 11/27/02.

Hi Shep,

As a second thought you might want to drag an RV with you, if you gots one, so atleast you will have something tomorrow. Borrow a RV from friend? neighbor? rent? Dig a pit and put the tarp up...That'd go over well for Thanksgiving...LMAO
Hey atleast no one would forget this turkey day for along time :)

No amount of roto-routering is going to fix the fundamental problem of a crushed pipe. You've got to excavate and replace the crushed pipe.

If the pipe is truly crushed, a roto-router isn't going to do diddly. Even if you were to rent a flow-mole, that still doesn't address the basic problem of a crushed pipe.

You really need to excavate and replace the crushed section of pipe.

While you got it dug up, put in a two way cleanout somewhere near the middle if possible.

I had similar problem 2 yrs ago. Rent the roto-rooter. I had a company that owned one come out and run it for me. They do a lot of work for municipalities so I'm sure there will be one close to you. Their fee was close to $150, not unreasonable in my opinion. Started at tank and went backward toward house. When power snake couldn't go any farther, measured distance backwards and had to dig it up. Pipe was old clay and had collapsed. If pipe is collapsed high pressure won't do anything but get the soil wet.

Hi Shep,

From past experience, pressure does nothing more than make a big mess. I would use a power head with a cutter and that should clear the pipe and get it temperory flowing. Then fix correct after the holiday. Bummer!

Consider sch 80 pipe in the driveway area when you replace it.

best anwser . with a sleeve you can replace line in the future if needed without diging up drive way . should have been sleeved in the first place if it went under a drive way .
