I have just aquired a lincoln gas powered welder, it is a sae-400 model with a six cylinder continental gas engine. I am looking for a 12 volt electric starter for it as it is wired for one, but it is missing. I went to the local napa store and they could not help me, they said the machine is obsolite and there is not any parts available for it. If anyone has any ideas on where to look for parts and/or part numbers, the help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, mike

I had to get a starter for my welder. This starter was only avalable through a Lincoln dealer.Seems when they built the machines even though the engines are continentals the starter were made buy lincoln and the cont. starter will not fit.

A four and a six cylinder should be the same starter and early model jeeps came with four cylinder continetal engines. Get on line and do a search for lincoln welders. Just some thoughts.

try "Memphis Equipment" they carry lots of military surplus equipment & parts...some military generators used continental engines...some commercial forklifts did too...
