I purchased a military surplus engine. It's a twin cylinder 3HP model. The specs say to use,

Above 32 MIL-L-2104 grade 30 MIL-L-6082 grade 1065
0 to 32 MIL-L-2104 grade 10
below 0 MIL-L-46167

I'd like to be safe and know what I'm supposed to use. I'm assuming the first one MIL-L-2104 is regular 30W detergent oil. But I'd like to be sure before I try starting this thing up.

MIL-L-2104 grade 30 means as you say, a 30 weight oil. Most modern 5w-30 and 10w-30 multi-weight oils also meet this spec. The same for the other 2104 specs as well.

The "above 32", "0 to 32" and "below 0" refers to outside temperature.

MIL-L-6082 is the spec for LUBRICATING OIL, AIRCRAFT PISTON ENGINE (NON-DISPERSANT MINERAL OIL) (S/S BY SAE-J1966)

so it appears this engine can also use aircraft piston engine oil as well.

In reality, pretty much any good, modern 30w oil will be just fine in it.
