O.K. I've 'flashed' the field (3-times) and polished the slip rings. Now I can get 2.9v on the 110 plug and about 6 on the 220. I think the voltage regulator is bad. Spent 1/2 hour on the phone with Sears. Parts are not available. Its one of the black generators with a red end where the receptacles are. Probably made in early to mid 80's. Anybody got an idea where to look for parts? Or who made it?

We had one on the beach camping and lightning hit one of the lights. I took it to a generator shop and they check out the windings and couldn't find any shorted or opened, so they polarized it and rechecked it. Still wouldn't put out any voltage. They rewound it and tried it again, still no luck. They polarized it several more times. Every part including the circuit board in it was changed but it never did work after that. They even used there magnometer (what ever it's called, it's for re-magnetizing stuff) but no luck. The special shafted engine finally found a home on something else. Mother nature can be cruel!

Kelvin:
Looks like you have a "generac" Might try generac.com or google search engine for generac. Maybe you can find some information that will help you.

If you can post a model number maybe some one can cross the numbers and find out who made this unit.
