There was a discussion a week or so ago about painting cement floors. Can't remember which board it was on (CRS, ya know).

Anyhoo, I said I'd check to see what paint we used at the firehouse, that we've had very good wear from.

Da Chief sez it was a two-part mix from (of all places) Sherwin-Williams!

Hope whoever wanted the information finds it here...

Just finished acid etching our floor..no big deal..1 gal. muriatic acid to 5 gal. water..use a good quality mop and wet the floor pretty good..it removes the cement dust..in a pinch, could be skipped..Sher.Wllms. paint..B65 ab45 (texaco gray)/B65 4500-hrdner /#132 reducer
I put the first coat on a little thin and top coat w/no thinning . good luck p.s. when done the mop is pretty much toast

Thanks! There may have been others, but I had asked back a month or more ago. The barn just finished yesterday - closed, but still trim left to install - and the floor has cured a minimum of about a month now - poured in three slabs over a couple of months. Some of the labels I've read call for a 90 day cure, then acid etch. Not sure I want to go that far - the etch that is - but could hold for the 90 day cure on the newest slab.

This won't be a heavy wear situation, so maximum toughness isn't a problem, and we put down plastic under the concrete over pretty dry clay, so moisture shouldn't be a problem either. Guess I'm still chewing on the acid etch issue since I still have time waiting out the cure. Sounds like a spring job since temperatures may not be right till then.

Thanks for the followup! I'll look into Sherwin-Williams epoxy.

Well, ya know what they say, "Time flys like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana"...

Glad I could help. Don't think we etched our floors, but I could double check that.
