Having problems with my knipco heater im burning fuel oil in it .It runs ok for a little while then it starts to not burn all the time and goes out then a buff of smoke will come out then a second or two it will relight and work again. Do i need a new plug or a new pump parts or what eles.All the help would be nice thank

It is twenty below zero and my Knipco heater does what you describe, runs, then puffs out. I reset then it runs a while then puffs out. using #2 diesel.

They need occasional service, like air and fuel filters, plugs, nozzle. Beyond that, your parts/service manual shows how to check and adjust the air pressure. You need a low pressure air gauge- my 110,000 btu unit should run 4 lbs,+- 1/4 lb. Also, air vanes wear/break. If you remove the air pump housing from the motor, use a feeler gauage to adjust minimum clearance when you re-assemble. Book has details. Use no heavier than #1 fuel, #2 can make it do what you describe even if all else is good.

Is that a forced air with a fuel injector space heater? Try cleaning the air filter. Replace the fuel if it has been setting in it since last winter.
