I bought a Central Machinery, model 1039, 16 speed, drill press at an estate auction. It is missing the assembly that fits between the quill shaft and pulley. I will be machining the piece and buying the bearings. I would like a picture scanned of the part from your manual so I can make one that looks somewhat like the original. Any help will be appreciated.

Central is Harbor Freight's store brand for the imports they sell. I'm not sure how old it is, but they do sell replacement parts for some of their stuff.

Update: I stopped in at a Sears store to get a model number and then could get a picture on their site of a Craftsman. The part was cheap enough, so I ordered one in hopes it would fit without too much alteration. Thanks for your help.

It sounds like it is the same as my Delta. If I can remember to look fo my manual and see if there is a picture.

Are you talking about the middle pulley/swingarm assembly, or the drive rod that drops down into the quill from the pulley above?

(or none of the above?)

A 6-spline shaft slides in this assembly as the quill goes down to drill a hole. It would run in bearings and held in place with snap rings. The top is tapered to fit the last cone pulley in the power train. Thanks for your reply.
