Does any one know where I can purchase the tools used to hold the tappets when adjusting the valve clearances on a Ford 8n

Dave Have you tried a NAPA autoparts store? When I was working in the local parts store/machineshop we ordered them all the time, also about any valvetrain part we needed.

I made a spanner to fit the Ford tappets many years ago. I used two pieces of rod that just fit the holes in the tappet, bent at right angles and brazed together. It worked just fine. I think the commercially produced tool was stamped out of sheet metal and came in a set of right and left
hand. Other Ford engines such as the flat head V-8 used the same tappets. Ed

You use to be able to get them from Seal Power , you may try N Compleat in Indiania. as they are big in the N seires fords. Tryed to find the phone no. but they did not have an add in this weeks paper give the Farm World paper a call at1-800-876-5133 and they can give ya there phone no.
