Got the tree farmer job done and someone wanted me to report back, so here goes..

I welded up the worn out area of the brackets, using the mig after I ran the die grinder around the hole to clean up the worst of the rust. Unfortunately the location of the front pins is behind the frame and under the floorpan so it was very tight quarters and slow going, but I managed to get 98 percent of the slop out and the pins are tight enough I had to hammer them in. A stone on a mini right angle grinder is the only way I could figure out to grind the holes back to round, although in the back access was excellent and I was able to use a burr. After doing the job I can see where turning steel bushings and welding them in would have worked but it would have taken a day for each hole with the poor access. I would still question the strength of the welds one could get as you can only weld from the top. The rear brackets would have been easy to cut off and replace. At least it's done and a whole lot better now. I got paid in firewood for the job so the owner made out lots better than the last time he was charged hundreds for a job not really done. While my method is not as good as it came out of the factory it should last more than half an hour. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Lots of work!! Had a similar situation with a back hoe bucket I bought,I used a longer pin, and welded a set collar on each side of the bucket holes where the metal had been gouged out. Took a lot less time and work.
