What is the secret to getting the smell of gas or diesel off your hands. I can scrub with soap, GoJo, brush, etc. but still have a hint of petrol smell. Any better solutions than Dial, etc. Dave

To get rid of the smell of furnace oil, a friend told me to pour laundry soap on to the spill and let it sit for a bit. Seems to work well.

The problem is with the fuel getting into the pores in your skin. My dad was a machinist for years, and used a product I think was called "Invisible Glove" to keep the layout dye out of his skin and it worked well.

Dave - I am a retired ServiceMaster licensee and we had what I thought was a very good product that may well fit your needs. If you have ServiceMaster in your area ask if they have the product "Fueloil Odorgo". Worked well for me.

I keep a can of shaving cream in my shop. Works good for greasy hands too. The foamy kind works the best. Don't use water. (just yet) Fill one hand with foamy like you're going to shave. Then rub your hands together till it's all gone. Then rinse. Your wife will appreciate this.

My wife can "detect" 1/1500 of a drop of diesel at a range of six miles! However, she can't begin to smell pizza burning right next to her!

She has the perfect answer: "Smell any diesel, get no whoopie"! Works like a charm!

The gas/diesel smell isn't the problem ,it is the woman. You need to get one of the Afganistan women, They are used to going to bet with men that smell bad. Don't let your wife read this,I might get in trouble.

D.O.B.
You don't realize how easy you've got it!!
You don't have to come up with "My back hurts", I hurt my elbow trail riding, I'm to tired, etc...
Just a dab of fuel and its an all nighter out in the garage.

Deodorant works for just about anything. I had a chance to show my wife when I filled the gas tank on a long trip and my clumsy hands weren't working the gas pump too good, and I got gas all over my hand. After cleaning my hands with gojo I put deoporant on my hands and there was no odor inside a closed truck for many hours of driving. There is another smell it works food for, Gunk Super Concentrate mixed with Diesel used for degreasing. That smell drives my wife crazy, and it neutralizes that odor as well. I use Old Spice.

I usually use a hand cleaner with orange in it.
The citric acid does an excellent job cleaning and
the smell at least is more pleasant than the gas
or diesel.

One washing usually will not get out the Diesel smell from clothes. My wife uses Listerine in the wash water. Helps a lot.

Try washing your hands with toothpaste. It usually kills most odors.
