Does anybody know where I can buy tire irons? Or are they dinosaurs? I just want to change the tires (maybe just the fronts.) on my tractor. I can get them off, but I'm butchering them, so I can't use the same methods to put the new ones on. I couldn't find any at sears online, and a search hasn't produced anything.

Thanks to all for the help and suggestions. I was going to buy the new tires from Miller, so maybe that's the way I'll go.

The ken-tool irons are excelent. And a must for use as pry bars etc. How do you work on tractors without them?

Tire irons are listed in JC Whitney catalog. Before I let my son start driving, he had to learn to change a tire using the irons. I knew it was unlikely he would see it done anywhere except my demonstration.

Hi Larry,

You can get tire irons from Gempler's. They have an excellent on-line ordering system. See link.

Northern Tool has some. Don't know if they are what you want or not.

The only ones I have found are made by KenTool, They are available through auto parts stores, TSC, and tire equipment suppliers, They are excellent tools and have matching price, Almost forgot, Miller Tire has some of them listed.

You might try a welding shop that has a forge and have them make you a pair..... 1" steel rod abuot 4' long....heat and flaten on end, about 5"long and about1/4" tapered up to the 1".....harden them with by cooling them in water.....I have made several.....

If you're cheap like me, an old spring leaf makes a fair-to-middling tire iron. DickTN

That ain't being cheap, that's using what you have and what gets the job done. I commend you. That is how most farmers have made it.
