A Man,

RE: your pick-up trailer, dumper. Did you build it or buy it that way.

How about more details.

Can I contact you by phone. If so e-mail your phone number to me @ [email protected].

Thanx

Chopper

Northern Tool sells a kit, around $800 for ram, scissors, pump, hinges, everything you need. I put one on my ton truck several years ago, it's been the best money I ever spent.

I made two minor modifications to the kit. I built a subframe to spread out the load on the bottom of the box, as the kit is designed to bolt directly to the sheet metal "stringers" under the box, and I didn't feel that was strong enough. Also, I drilled and tapped the pivot points on the scissors for grease fittings.

The only other thing I did was to mount the pump/reservoir unit behind the seat in the truck. Instructions recommend mounting it inside the frame rail, but with Maine winters and salt-sand on the roads, that didn't seem like a real bright idea to me.

It's been trouble free for a lot of years, and has saved my back a ton of trouble.

I don't know the company's name but there is a bunch in Australia that makes a system that works off your engine's exhaust pressure.

I saw one on a 1 ton flat bed. It has a single large bag with a electric selonoid valve on the exhaust manifold.

It'll dump 4 tons and was pretty quick. The total cost including shipping was only around $250.
