I was interested in purchasing a welder that can weld sheet metal and also thicker types of steel and maybe cast iron.

There are many different welders available. All depending on what you are going to be welding and how much. For thin metal(sheet metal 1\32nd to 1\8 I would go with a mig wire feed.If larger than that I would go with a stick welder and if you are doing both try a milleromatic tig or equale. It will weld steeland braize.Comes with a argon tank and foot petal for aluminine. It is ac and dc so if you put it on dc and have some nickle rods cast iron and a little practice your in buisness.

Scott, do an archive search on welders or welding. This subject was discussed in some depth a month or so ago, with a lot of great advice.
