Well, you can only get so much out of a power source! If you choose a unit that runs off of 115v/15 amps. You will probably be disappointed in the long run. The gasoline engine driven units can be larger, much larger, and pack more power. Look at both the pressure, and volume ratings. I have a 5.5hp unit rated at 2200psi, and 3gpm. I have been satisfied with this level of performance, and would not recommend any less. (Some times, I'd like even more!) Especially you want the volume of flow somewhere around 3gpm, or more! If you're going to use it only occasionally, have you considered short term renting? This would get you a chance to try various sizes of units, and see what works for you. You will find that once you have one, you'll be developing more uses for it all the time. Just finshed cleaning off 50 years of grease and grime off an old tractor in preparation for restoring, and the power washer cleaned almost all of that off, with just a little scraping! Also use mine for cleaning food and water utensils for animals, rabbit cages and litter pans, siding and buildings for painting, carpeting and floor mats, etc. Even wash the car once in a while. Get the biggest unit your budget will allow, you'll not regret spending the extra money.
