I have located a air activated in-floor hoist that has the word globe on the ajustable arms of the hoist. The problem is one of the arms is missing. Does anyone know about this model or company? How usefull is this type of hoist in a small garage? Any helpful tips? Thanks in advance. Dan

Dan, I'm in the process of trying to extricate two hoists. One is Globe #17k 9628-1056. One has adjustable arms the other a fixed H platform. Different arms. I'm trying to pull the cylinders out of the ground but have no idea what's down there and hoping 5 tons of pull will leave the roof intact. Any advice will be appreciated. If I'm unsuccessful getting the cylinders up, I'll have extra arms. Globe is or was a part of Dresser Industries which became a part of the nice folks who rewarded Dick Cheney for getting in with Bush. Good luck getting any information out of the co. I was unsuccessful. I'll know tomorrow if I get cylinders or not. Anybody who can give me a clue as to how to get them out without a major excavation, please let me know. Thanks, Tom.

Hi,
I have a Globe hoist in my yard. The plate on the "H" says it was made in 1958. The full name is the Globe Pacific Hoist Company, a division of Globe Hoist Company. It has an 8000# capacity. The brass plate says the company was out of Des Moines,Philadelphia, and Long Beach. I use it all the time. Its awesome. Brian

Brian thanks for the info, I'm still looking for parts but could build one if nessasary. Bought hoist for $100. and will add to new work bay on garage. Any idea on how big the support pad under the hoist is? I'm thinking 3'by 3' by 12" with rerod would be enough.
