I'm sure its been asked and reviewed on here before, but, I couldn't find anyting so here goes.
Has anybody ever used a Lincoln AC/DC buzz box to do any TIG welding?
I have a few small exhaust systems for competition karts to build and I need a power source. I have my TIG torch, hose and regulator.

Hi Jeff,

You sure can use a buzzer for Tig. Use straight polarity, DCSP, DCEN. Thats how I learned Tig, was with a scratch start Tig torch. The fancy reostat amp control was for the high end shops and not very many of them to boot.

You'll need to clean the scale off the steel as well as the filler rod to keep prosity out of the weld puddle.

Hi Jeff: I have a Linde ac buzz box. I bought a used Lincoln high frequency box for it. I then built a scr voltage control on the 220 input. It uses a home made foot control. I also added a 200 amp rectifier for dc. You can do a scratch start using dc. For aluminum, you need ac and constant hf.
