Many years ago I worked with an old guy who would never put a 'g' when writing a word ending in 'ing'. Us young bucks (boy that was a long time ago) were always fussing at him about his spelling. He cornered us one day and with a clenched fist told us "Look booger, everybody don't spell alike".
Seriously, I think that those of us who learned to spell phonetically rather than by recognizing the whole word ended up being better spellers in the long run.

I just got flamed for mentioning the word "spelling". Actually, the words I posted were "horrible spelling". And, Miss Grundy, there should be several staying after class! Better open up the gym to have enough room! The old homeroom will never be big enough!! All the best..... ...Greg
