I am trying to come up with a way to open a chain link gate on about a ten minute delay. I can pull the gate open with a bungee cord if I can figure out how to rig a timer to trip the latch. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

A little more info would help:

What is it you're actually trying to do?

Do you want to remotely activate the gate, or do you just want to have it stay closed for a while after someone tries to open it?

If remote, how far away will you be when you activate it?

Will you close it manually?

Do you have power available at the gate?

Does the gate need to lock closed (or open)?

I operate my 2 sliding garage doors with regular over head door operators that I scrounged, and outfitted with 1/8 inch aircraft cable and pulleys so that the pull is horizontal. I have them working for 10 -15 years. I even have remotes on them. They were a conversation piece when I first did it.
