OK Tire dealers used to "true" tires quite often years ago. They had a lathe of sorts which the mounted tire was spun, and a cup shaped cutting tool took small slices of rubber off the tread, to make the tire "round." I haven't heard much about the process over the last 30 years or so. I suspect that better tire manufacturing techniques and mounting on rims, have limited the usefulness of the process. I would check the back rooms of some of the old tire dealers around. Not just OK Tire, as names of dealers have changed, and equipment has changed hands, over the years.

Ray, I just had some done about 6 months ago. I've had several sets done over the years. Makes a truck ride like a cadilac. A shop in Dublin still does it. It uses a small beveled blade that spins.

Thanks Ray for your help. Believe it or not I know a man that has the high performance tires mounted and sent into him by the semi load to true up for different race teams around the USA.He has a nice business and does't want to talk about it of which I respect him for that.I had a Auto Parts store and sold one of these machines 30yrs ago to the local Chev. dealer to correct glass belted tires. Since that time I have had 2 sets of radial tires done by this high performance tire dealer in his slack period. It really extends the life of the tire plus the smooth balance you get at all speeds. I will keep looking I am sure there is one setting in the corner of old tire dealer Thanks again. Earl
