many years ago I saw a tractor tire reparair dude in the field fixing one of our tires ,he had a hydraulic bead breaker. It had a small cylinder and two arms that reached around the tire ,one grabbed the rim and the other squeezed the tire down ,this thing was used on the tractor, don't remember how it was powered. Has anyone ever seen one of these if so where can I get one,or get plans to build one.I have a slide hammer type and it uses too much energy(my energy)to operate.

Have you looked into rebuilding and/or remotoring the one you have? My Dad had a Craftsman back in the late 50's-early 60's. Rod's right, the new stuff isn't up to standard unless you plan to part with BIG bucks.

I bought my first tablesaw 4 or 5 years ago. Didn't look at Craftsman, as all their power tools I've ever had have been junk. Wound up with a 10" Delta Contractor. Good solid machined steel top, fully adjustable trunion that you can actually square up to the table and the fence, adjustable miter stops, good power. The base and table extensions are stamped, and I didn't upgrade to the really good fence, but other than that, I'm satisfied. Price hovers around $600, you can beat that if you shop.

Check out the link. It's not hydraulic but it does break the bead...even on the tractor. I've been thinking about getting one myself one of these days.
