Searching for info on origin of old spanners with word "Syracuse" stamped on. Any information as to where tools came from or what machine they were made for much appreciated. Also any info or directions where more information or availability might be obtained. Thankyou for your help.

Here's a list of books that -might- help.
I haven't read any of them. I lifted the list
off the EAIA website at : www.eaiainfo.org :

Antique and Unusual Wrenches Alfred and Lucille Schulz. 92 pp., fully illustrated, soft cover, 1992. List/Member Price: $22.50/$20.25
1,107 types of wrenches are illustrated and identified by maker, place, and date whenever that information has been
found. Wrenches are arranged by type and use.

History of Old Time Farm Implement Companies and the Wrenches They Issued P. T. Rathbone. 520 pp., illustrations, hard covers. List/Member Price: $50.00/$45.00
This exhaustive book on farm implement companies and their wrenches gives histories of hundreds of companies that produced tools for the various different specialties of farming with a particular emphasis on wrenches for specific kinds of equipment.

MY FIRST 1000 WRENCHES *Donald H. Snyder. 71 pp., illustrations, paper bound. List/Member Price: $12.95/11.75

MY SECOND 1,000 WRENCHES *Donald H. Snyder. 74 pp., illustrations, paper bound. List/Member Price: $12.95/11.00

AMERICAN WRENCH MAKERS 1830-1915 Kenneth L. Cope. 290 pp., illustrations, paper bound, 1999. List/Member Price: $24.95/22.50
Very helpful in indentifying wrenches by maker and period through lists of wrench trade marks and trade names, the makers who used them, and wrench patent dates.
