Dave. You do not need a CDL for what you will be doing. For safety sake got brakes on both axels. A good controler is needed (adjustable) as brake pressure changes with wight. Your P/U will handel the 8N or the cubs easyly. If you get a new trailer get a tilt, roll back, or a baever (dove) tail as it makes for easyer loading. My ramps are stored under the back trailer and I have three if I need to load a tricycle tractor. My trailer is a 7X20 with a 2ft. beaver tail 3 axle 15000#. Talk to others and see they are using and what they like or dislike. Hope this is of some help. Enjoy safely. Morgan

I've had real good experience with Custom Trailer
from Geogia and CAM Surpreme Trailer from PA.
I would say a 4-ton would be more then enough to
carry your tractors listed. Your truck might be a
little on the light side and I would replace the
factory hitch to be safe. Check your owners
manual to see what your truck towing limits are.

Depends how much you are willing to spend.
In my neck of the woods(Central Texas) there are a lot of people with a welder that could build such and are open to the public doing just that. Threre are also some national brands that have web sites that tell about their products. I think i'd opt for these things when I went trailer shopping.
Bulldog hitch coulper- Hard to damage even if you try
Wrapped tongue-This is where the tongue isn't just attached to the front of the trailer but is extended to where the front axle leaf springs attach.
For car hauling I bought one with a raised deck. and no sides. I also have other trailers with short( about 1' tall) sides I have one with an angle top rail and one with a pipe top. Pipe top is definately more sturdy but you pay extra for it.
Watch where the manufacturer mounts the tail lights as I've relocated some due to poor choice by mfg(Read: I knocked them off)
Ramps are another issue. I like the ones that are stored under the rear of the trailer, behind the axles and slide out to the side. Trust me here as I already told you I knocked off the tail lights.
If you decide to buy a used one check it over carefully and be sure it is the bargain you think it is. A new one probably won't cost much more and could actually save some money as trailer parts are expensive and so is your labor. Also if you are hauling that much weight you should look into some brakes for one or both axles.
