Hi Folks. Bought a crown electric pallet lifter at an auction this weekend. Of course it doesn't run. So I need some help from out there. It came with a charger and 4 6 volt batteries (1 was dry in every cell) I plugged it in and gave it a charge for about 5 hours. It was charging at 25.7 volts. Yes its a 24 volt system. None of the bottons on the control arm would work. No foreward backward etc. I took the switch cover off and found I had voltage at all the switches I checked. The fuse in the machine was ok. My buddy called a forklift friend of his and was told that the emergency switch? was probably nfg. Any ideas out there. I jumpered the solinoid and got the hydraulic pump to work at least it went up.

Jim M if you look on the inside of the cover that covers the relays and motor usually there is a pocket that has a set of wiring diagrams in it.
It's easy to miss because you don't usually look in there. your looking at the motor or relays. I found mine by accedent one day when the thing fell over after I took it off.

On the electric pallet lifts the arm has to be at least at the 10:00 Oclock position in order for the machine to run. Alot of times this switch will break and not complete the run circuit. or one of the wires that run down to it will break at the hinge point. the switch is located under the arm pivot in where the control relays are.
good luck Jim K

We also have one of them critters. It used to work fine but after someone let the batteries run completely down, it's never worked again. Put 4 new 6v batteries in it and the lift goes up and down fine but won't self propel. One thing to remember is that the park brake must be released or it will act like it is dead in the water. We finally ordered a manual for it the other day. Maybe it will shed some light on the subject. If (when) we get it figured out, I'll repost the results. Meanwhile, GOOD LUCK!!!!! !!

When you run those things with low batteries It eats up the contacts in the relays. and sometimes
they will weld together, which will cause the thing to take off on you when you turn the unit on.
Check out a company called UNISOURCE for inexpensive quality replacement contacts for your relays and complete relay assemblies, you should be able to order online, do a search on UNISOURCE.
good luck Jim K

batteries UNHOOKED FOR TESTING or you will get a nice fire. wires will fry if you short them with 24 v. test continuity on each wire thorgh the head. and get the book.
