If you know Nasville please help. Grandson born last week and careflitted to Vaderbilt Childrens Hospital with only part of his heart working. We need to get down to the hospital, 400 miles from home we have enough money to get down there but not enough for high priced motels as we are in bankruptcy now, anyone able to give us any information on a good but cheap place to stay, Ronald McDonald house only allows for one room per patient and the parents have it. Thanks for any help that you can give. Worried Grandparents

Around here, if people find themselves sort of down and out, they go to the city police. They call around to local churchs and salvation army and always seem to get assistance. Some churchs have moneys set aside for just such emergencies.

When the parents call, tell them you would like to come, ask them if you need to sleep on the floor....Don't ask MC Donald House anything....that way they can't say no...put your bedding(if you have to take any) and things in the car during the day time.....Like I always say desperate people do desperate things..... .On the other hand,my advice is to stay home and have things ready for them when they get home....you can be of more help at home..... that baby is in good care and GOD's hands....the parents need to be alone at this time...Not worring about you traveling there....nothing you can do anyway....Relax my friends and pray for your family..... .

I've always found Knights Inn to be a good place for a night's stay. There is one located three miles from Vanderbilt University. I cannot vouch for the hotel as I have never been there or stayed there, but they are showing rates of $34.20 and $38.00 per night. Here's a link:

Knights Inn Nashville

I hope that this is helpful!

You might want to call Holiday Inn, Hotel 6, places near the hospital. They usually offer discounted rates in this case. You can even check with the hospital and they might be able to help.

Also will Ronald McDonald house let you double up with the parents?

I'll be praying for you and your grandson and family.
