I'm planning a new shop and was planning to install a 12'X12' door. Is this big enough to get a semi tractor in? Also, what would the length be of a tractor with a sleeper be? I do not plan to go trucking, but will probably be selling the place in a few years and if I need to make a small adjustment on size for possible future saleability I think I would get more return on my investment.

Height of a semi tractor depends on usage, I drove a tractor pulling flatbed stacks would clear 11'6". Like all have said usually 13'6". Most truck garages use a 13-14 wide by 14-15 high for oversize loads. Wheelbase usually around 240" except "Large Cars" 300+. Just an observation

That 13ft/6in tall usualy is what trailer is.or load . I don,t think tractor would be that high but would build 14 ft sidewalls to be sure

Krum,Trucks are 13.6 if you can, try 2 doors, one to use every day and one sliding door for trucks, tractors with cabs. I have been told you can squeeze a few more inches from an end door. lol kjm

With 14' sidewalls on my pole barn I was able to only get 13' of height due to the 2x12 header that the inspector required. I couldn't go above 14' sidewall height without an "engineered" blueprint.

Most trucks need a clearance of 13'6", 14' gives you a safety zone. A good size tractor will have a w.b. of 260-280 inches, you can add a little more for everything beyond the w.b. Hope this helps Ron

i would make it 14 ft tall, that is the maximum legal height for the road so anything that would be on the road would go in your shop

Semi trailers are 13 ft. 6 in tall... and most exh. stacks on semi tractors just about come to the top of the trailers. You better plan on adding a foot or so to the door hight. Width is O-K. I have a 12 ft. wide door on My shop...I can park My full size pickup in the doorway and open both doors wide open no problem. My door is 12 ft wide X 7-1/2 ft tall wi=hich was an un-common standard door. I would think there's seven panel doors that should be close to 13 ft tall that would just what Your looking for.
