I have bought 700 12"x12"x"3/8" to lay over a concrete floor. Can someone give me information on cutting the tile. I heard that a diamond wet saw is required. Is this so and can some one suggest a place to obtain one?
Thanks.
Alex

I bought one too. The biggest difference I see between the $98 one and the $400 ones is that the cheap one is slower. I kinda like having my own as opposed to renting - it's there when you want it, you know what kind of shape it's in, etc.

Chuck is right. If your or any buddy are ever going to do another tile job, it is paid for. It may even save you that much in screwed up tile on this job. LOL

Alex...When I was retiling a shower last year, I messed around trying to cut tile in various ways including a dry masonry blade in my radial saw, scoring with a glass cutter, and "nibbling" with a special tool loaned by a friend. I was about to rent a diamond wetsaw when my wife and I saw them at Lowe's and Home Depot, on sale for about $98. The blade diameter is about 6", and it looks like a small table saw. The bottom of the blade is immersed in a plastic tray of water in the base of the saw. I bought it and it was the best $98 investment I made in that project. A couple or three days rental would have cost that since I'd have had to rent it several times since I was working mostly evenings and weekends. Besides, the ones I saw for rent at the local tile show were pretty much the same quality, only well used. Replacemnent blades were about $49, but I had no problem getting the job done with the blade that comes with the saw. I even used it to freehand grind curves - though the instructions warn that it's dangerous. I used it on both 4" wall tiles and thicker 12" floor tiles. Now I've got the saw for the next tile job for what it would have cost to rent one or less. Be sure to use safety glassses or goggles.

You can rent one at most tool rental places.
