I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this software. I'm getting some horrible results with trying to scan in drawings or even computer text, when it is converted to a cut path it looks nothing like it is supposed to. If anyone has this program and would like to see a picture I can get one to show all who can help. Everything works fine and looks good untill you convert it and then I spend hours upon hours cleaning up the cut path, and correcting everything that got twisted and malformed.

set up a plasmacam last year here at school. have not tried to scan a picture in yet. am curious as to what plasmacam told you the problem was. was not well pleased with the way the manual was written. had a couple of small problems so far. have used the free hand drawing quite a bit.

Importing files is easier than falling off a log. No kidding. Just be sure to run through the examples in the back of the manual - maybe several times each! At first it's not easy, but it isn't all that tough either. Like most software suppliers Plasmacam over sells the easy of it, but I guarantee once your up & running you'll love it. It's a very, very powerful program!

Frankly, I usually have a tough time following written instructions and I've foud theirs to be very well done. Don't get too discouraged - you will get it!

Did this problem just start? Are you using the "smooth" function? If so at what setting? What are your Path Conversion settings? You've probably spoken with PlasmaCams help people - what did they say?

Maybe I can help - they don't call me Dum Ole Bob for nuffin'!

Well, they just said everyone has to clean everything up like that. And I did try to use the smooth function but that really sends into a tailspin. I have to tell you though, I've been playimg with this thing, today is the second day, and I just can't get a good drawing. The path conversion was set to the 100 lines as per the instuctions, and the smooth was not enabled to find arcs. When the arc fuction was enabled, it made the drawings look like something exploded.

If you have the program readily available to you, I can send you this little star thingy I made like in thier instuction manual, and it looks great until you convert it into the cut path and the it looks like someone axed it to death. I set everything the way they said, like the "Hank" star in the book and when I convert it, BOOM it's a mess.

Try tracing your image on translucent tracing paper from an art store useing some of the fine line art pens that are available. That is what we do at work to make our vector images as sharp as possible from the raster scan stage.
